  • Common Mis-En-Scene in horror - dark lighting, rural deserted locations, places that are abandoned and isolated, shadows, abandoned buildings, haunted houses, forests at night, objects like cobwebs, flickering lights, creepy dolls, religious symbols, items that signify death, creaking door sounds, footstep sounds, whispers, sudden loud noises, and characters dressed in a way that's that unsettling and make one uncomfortable.
  • Common Editing in horror - Cross cutting, cutaway, insert, shot/reverse shot, eye-line match, jump cut, and action match.
  • Common Sound in horror - diegetic sound, non-diegetic sound, sound bridge, sound motif, voiceover, ambient sound, and dialogue.
  • Example films that are horror - "The Exorcist" (1973), "Get Out" (2017), "The Conjuring" (2013), "Paranormal Activity (2007), and "Scream" (1996).
  • What elements of horror do I like? - The uses of sound, lighting, and settings that create a eerie environment interest me. I also like the suspense that builds tension, helps me stay interesting during the whole movie.
  • What elements of horror do not appeal to me? - Jump cut editings, always scares me way too much. I don't like the acting sometimes due to them being too violent.
