Group Blog for Music Video
My music video will be done in a group of three. Me, and my two friends Abigail and Amiya. They're both in different periods than me but we have multiple ways to communicate. I chose to work with Abigail and Amiya because I've known them for a while. Us working together doesn't seem to be an issue because we aren't difficult when it comes to deciding on things. All of us are hard workers and have strong work ethics, so us not doing our work isn't a issue at all. They are people that can make doing this project more fun. The work of 3 brains is better than 1 brain. Especially, when it is a group of people who apply themselves. I can depend on them to make everything run smoothly in the process of turning in assignments for this project, and they can depend on me to do everything correctly as well. Us working together will lead to an amazing music video. As a group, we decided on a song called "Pretty Hurts" by Beyonce. The reason for choosing this song was because there is a deep meaning behind it if you analyze the song and especially the music video. In "Pretty Hurts", it is shown that girls will go to the most extreme levels just to look pretty. They have to look a certain way, be a specific weight, dress a specific way, and even have specific teeth that look good enough to fit the beauty standard. We see this in the music video when a scene is shown of all the women getting ready in the changing room: taking diet pills to change their weight, pulling around at their skin, having botox, getting spray tans, and finding outfits to make them look pretty enough for society. But, no matter how hard these girls try, some still don't feel pretty enough to fit the beauty standard, which could really have an intended effect on people watching the music video. For some, this is relatable to them as well. Towards the end of the music video, it is shown that you shouldn't beat yourself up trying to look pretty. People should be trying to find beauty in their imperfections. What matters is how you feel on the inside, not how you look on the outside. In the video, a message is sent, self-empowerment.
