Production Blog: First Three Scenes of Music Video Filmed

Today, the first scene of the music video was film. I went over to one my partners in the music video house so I could record her for the first three scenes in the music video. I used my iphone camera to record my friend Abigail. I used my phone to record her looking into the mirror. I filmed this scene from a medium long shot. The medium long shot demonstrates how my friend is looking at her body and face. My friend feels insecure about her body and face, so this shot shows how she is using her hands to touch her face and body. As my friend is examining her looks, she has a frown on her face, this is because she is not content with her physical appearance. After I film my friend looking sad in the mirror, there is a tracking shot following her to the bathroom. When she gets to the bathroom, I record using a medium shot of my friend looking into the mirror of the bathroom and taking out her makeup products. As my friend starts to apply the makeup, I do a close-up shot to demonstrate my friend putting loads of makeup on so she could feel better about herself. In the same close-up shot, there is a distraught on my friends face after putting the makeup on. I record this part of the music video to show how my friend still feels ugly after attempting to look better. I start to use a zoom in movement to turn the shot into an extreme close up shot. I record using an extreme close up shot to show the tears starting to form in my friends eyes. The shots, movements, and angles I used in the filming of the first three scenes helps to start to introduce the story and meaning of the music video. My clips demonstrate how it is a global issue that girls feel like they need to do certain things to fit into the beauty standards. However, no matter how hard they try girls still feel like they're not worthy. This is the main message I am attempting to convey with the first three clips of my music video. I feel that filming is highly important and should be taken very seriously. Without filming, there would be no music video.
